A fantastic DVD. Plenty of Edwardian recipes to keep those who like to experiment with something different in the kitchen, occupied & happy (champagne & elderflower jelly, Turkish delight & how to make a PROPER jug of Pimms for example). This is coupled with some fascinating snippets exposing some little known & forgotten history (the Edwardian roots of modern flower arranging & the coded meanings of different types of flowers , Edwardian perfumes, trips to the North West to sample the fare ,Dandelion & Burdock & the like, of a temperance bar & so on)All of this presented by the Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall - what a top bloke, I could just sit & listen to him all night. It's a different kettle of fish to "River Cottage" but has many similar themes (in terms of serving up fresh, seasonal & sometimes unusual produce & dishes)but it also resurrects some top housekeeping & Edwardian "lifestyle" tips. There is a heavy "Mrs Beeton" influence in this DVD,it really is spot on in every sense,I can't recommend this enough !!!
