Description

From the Manufacturer Introducing the world-renowned Sydney Opera House. This masterpiece of expressionist architecture is the vision of young Danish architect, Jorn Utzon, whose unique interlocking vaulted ‘shell' design beat 933 competitors from 28 countries to win an international design competition held by the New South Wales Government in 1959. Combined with the beautiful setting of Sydney Harbour, the opera house has become a true symbol of late modern architecture and one of the most iconic buildings of the 20th century. This LEGO Architecture series interpretation of the Sydney Opera House was designed by US architect Adam Reed Tucker in collaboration with the LEGO design team.

I own most of the Architecture sets and for a small set, it is a fairly good representation of the Opera House, giving you the overall feel of the building. The one downside however is that the building feels "loose" when seated on the foundation, due to the fact that they are only held on by a 2x2 spinning piece. If you jiggle the set, the buildings will shake, and are fairly easy to pull off. I understand they needed to do this to make the angle of the buildings, but they should be secured in more places to make it more sturdy. Its a cute little set though, and looks nice on my office desk.My 12 year old grandson had requested this for Christmas last year and I was a little late getting the request so I wasn't able to purchase this for him. He is very interested in the Architecture Legos. This is a gift and has not been opened yet.I bought this as a gift to my significant other. He's a Lego fan, and loves the architecture sets. He said that the directions were easy to follow, and the set looked wonderful when finished. Definitely would recommend this for the Lego enthusiasts out there. High quality and well done.My grandson had never heard of the Sydney Opera House, so we had a chance to educate him in that regard. It looks more of a challenge than all his towers, and that is good. The towers are very easy for him to do.I give this 5 stars because the person who bought it loves it and loved putting it together. It looks like the picture on the box. That's what you get. Does it look like the opera house?...or anything for that matter? As I said, the expert who bought it, loves it. It lives at the office. Was looking for Lego sets for an older grandchild and thought the Architecture series would work. He loved it, built it, then did some research to find out about the Sidney Opera House. Hmmm. Now he wants me to take him to Australia for next year! Well, maybe another Christmas, but very glad I purchased this set for him!So far I love all of the Lego Arhitecture sets that I have purchased. This one is one of the smaller models and only took a little over an hour to complete but it captures the essence of the real opera house.I bought this after recently visiting the Sydney Opera House. I like this interpretation of the actual building. It looks great from a distance, and while it isn't an exact scale replica up close, I think it still looks good. It was enjoyable to assemble, and I'll find a place to display it on my desk.smallVery small and simple. Not good value.
