I really loved this book. I have read a lot of Erica James' books and they just get better and better. I think this is my favourite. Her description of the two world wars was the best I have read and I have read a lot of descriptions. The descriptions of her characters were superlative. Such feeling and incrediblefeelings for the children and how the servants managed to run the household . Everyone who lived in Island House and who lived in the village were so characterised and whoLived through the second world war.This is a very quick review but so heart felt and I could not put it down.
